Parish Support - Donations - www.givecentral.org

While we continue to pray for an end to the pandemic, the work of the parish continues. We are actively seeking ways to reduce our expenses so as to be able to continue to meet these expenses. To that end we are encouraging those who are able to continue your weekly Sunday contribution to the parish, to do so through our online donation process.

By going to www.givecentral.org or directly to the following link: https://www.givecentral.org/location/573/event/17391 , you will be able to make your much needed and appreciated Sunday contribution to Sacred Heart Parish.

Be assured of the prayers of our priests (Fr. Velasquez, Fr. James, Fr. Jesus Haros and Fr. George) as they offer their private Masses for your intentions, for an end to the pandemic and for those suffering from the Coronavirus 19.

The Easter Duty

There are six Precepts of the Church:
  • Attend Mass on Sunday, and Holy days.
  • Confess serious (mortal) sins at least once a year.
  • Receive Holy Communion often and, especially during Easter season.
  • Fast and abstain on certain days.
  • Contribute to the support of the church.
  • Observe the marriage laws of the Church.

The Easter Duty pertains to the fourth precept, that we should receive Holy Communion at least once a year during the Season of Easter. For us in the United States this may be fulfilled from the First Sunday of Lent to Trinity Sunday. Also going to confession is recommended during this time.

These are the minimum requirements for Catholics. When we stop to think of all that Jesus has done for us, how He gives Himself entirely for our sake, surely we will want to receive Him in the Holy Eucharist more than just once a year and if we commit sin only once a year, then we will want to confess on a regular basis.
